From the reviews
Have only been to one muay thai class so far so cant compare it to other gyms but both the Kru and other students were very helpful and kind. The membership is very fair it includes almost all services available and the one time equipment cost can be discounted quite a bit if you already own gloves wrappings and shin…
Could not say enough good things about Scott and this gym. He’s a great coach and this is a great school. Lots of families so your training can vary in Muay Thai. But overall great classes and instruction in both Muay Thai and Kickboxing. Scott will make you sweat in two minutes and make simple counting very difficult!
I called and requested a one hour drop in 1-on-1 session and Scott (the owner) was very flexible and very responsive. I have trained for a few years and Scott was able to quickly size me up and work on a few holes in my technique. He let's you drive the pace and you leave feeling like you got a great session in.
We have been here a year and are very happy with the experience for our son! Kru Meier is a wonderful and caring instructor who is instilling values of discipline, respect and physical fitness. Haystack is a great community and is reasonably priced. We recommend it!
Your first muay thai class at Haystack Muay Thai and Fitness Academy
Nervous about walking into a muay thai gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
