From the reviews
I currently have two children attending Power Self- Defense Academy. A son and a daughter. So far their journey with Coach Mitch has been awesome here! Not only have they learned a combination of kicks and punches, but they've also developed mental skills, discipline and more confidence inside and outside the studio!
Coach Mitch and this class has been an invaluable add to our lives. Outside of the important skill of self defense I love the values that he's helping to instill and reinforce. A lot of it I teach at home but it's nothing like having another source to help.
I highly recommend Power Self-Defense Academy. My 4 year old looks forward to attending his martial arts classes with Coach Mitch weekly! My son has felt welcomed from the first class he attended and has really been able to join in with the POWER community.
I’ve been through my four week trial period and I’m really enjoying the training up to this point. I look forward to progressing through the program. Coach Mitch is very knowledgeable, the workouts are tough but enjoyable, and the facilities are neat and clean.
Your first muay thai class at POWER Self-Defense Academy
Nervous about walking into a muay thai gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
