From the reviews
I just went to my First Ladies class taught by David Benavides and had a great experience. (A group of us ladies got together to try it for the first time.) We worked hard, he pushed us but also helped us get the strikes right. We got a good workout and learned how to throw some good punches and kicks!
Only Traditional Muay Thai around the area! David is Very Knowledgeable and a student of the game. You can learn a lot from him as well as getting a good workout in.
David worked around our schedule so that we could attend this class with him and didn’t mind that we had to change locations at the last minute! He was very patient while explaining things, didn’t mind having to show us more than once and was happy to answer our questions!
Having the opportunity to train and grow with David and his family has been such a great experience. David pushes to improve himself and everyone else around him. He is patient, easy going, and importantly he is very knowledgeable. Check his club out and learn some traditional Muay Thai.
Your first muay thai class at Benavides Fight Club
Nervous about walking into a muay thai gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
