From the reviews
Gracie Barra Edmonds is everything I want in a jiu-jitsu academy: a strong emphasis on fundamental and modern jiu-jitsu with a strong competition team. They have three black belt professors and offer a robust schedule of noon and evening classes. The team culture is welcoming and friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Me and my 9 year old daughter have been going here for a little over a year now and both love it. Solid training atmosphere and instructors, family friendly, and great crew of students. The head instructor (Professor Mark) is a seasoned competitor and great instructor.
I was in the area on business and had the opportunity to stop by and train at GB Edmonds this week. The head instructor Mark Chappell greeted me warmly as did the students training that day. Mark put us through a rigorous warm up and across the mat drills, which I deeply appreciate as part of a BJJ curriculum.
Gracie Barra Edmonds has been great for our daughter. The Professors and Coaches are great, and polite to all the students that take class. The gym has been welcoming since day 1, from when our daughter started 2 years ago.
Your first muay thai class at Gracie Barra Edmonds Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a muay thai gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
