From the reviews
Trained with Kru Willie back in a day as a fighter. Great trainer. There is no screwing around. Everything he does is to break you down and build you up. He doesn't want his fighters hurt, so he teaches you to be the best offensively and defensively. Look forward to coming to the new gym and train.
This is the best gym I’ve ever trained in. Everybody in the gym works as a team to help each other grow as martial artists. The teacher takes time to make sure you understand what is being taught and he is also very motivational. I could honestly say that I never feel like missing a class.
I highly recommend this gym for people who want to get serious with their training. I started a little over 2 months ago and have made so much progress in my kicks and overall stamina. Without this gym, I can’t imagine being where I am with my progress in such a short amount of time.
This is absolutely the best Muay Thai, Tae Kwon do, Judo, and Jiu Jitsu gym I've been to in the Bronx. A strategically intense family training welcomes you from day one. The instructors are bilingual (Spanish and English).
Your first muay thai class at Lions Roar Muay Thai
Nervous about walking into a muay thai gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
