From the reviews
We love Soca Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Rancho Bernardo. All 3 of my kids have joined now, including my husband. From my 11 year old to my toddler they all love it. Professor Bruno is so great with the children.
Started off my daughter first then I had to try it for myself! The gym is clean and efficient. Professor Bruno, coach Johnny, Coach Rafael, Coach Angel, Lika and trainer Rafael have been nothing but accommodating and welcoming to me and my daughter. I’m 5 classes in and all the upper belts have been very helpful.
My 11-year-old son has been training at SocaBJJ for a few years now, and we honestly can't say enough good things about the place. The whole experience has been incredibly positive and rewarding. The best part about SocaBJJ is definitely the vibe and the coaching staff.
I loved my previous academy because the of the professor’s approach and style of teaching, the family like atmosphere. I did not expect to find anything like that again after moving across the country and being forced to find a new gym. But right from the beginning, Soca impressed me.
Your first muay thai class at Soca Brazilian Jiu Jitsu San Diego - Rancho Bernardo
Nervous about walking into a muay thai gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
