Love this boxing gym! My sister has been a member for a few months and I've been a member for a month so far. It has been so nice coming here. I've learned so much, Coach Alfredo is great to work with. Very patient for a beginner like me and explains the lessons very well.
One of my favorite places in all of the East Bay. Great atmosphere to better oneself with great facilities and equipment. Members are very supportive of each other and Coach Alfredo gives his all to his students, fighters, and the gym.
I honestly can’t say enough about this boxing gym. Coach Alfredo Gopa is a real community builder, the coaches lead by example and the people who train here share a unique passion for boxing that’s like no other. In my personal experience I went from being overweight to now being back in shape.
Gopa itself is a standout gym, the environment is clean and promotes concentration without distraction. I have trained under Alfredo since 2016. Alfredo focuses on building the fighter from the ground up. Making sure the fundamentals are drilled into you starting with the feet.

What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
