From the reviews
I can’t say enough great things about Kelvin and Hammer Muay Thai Academy! Kelvin is not only a skilled and knowledgeable coach, but also an incredibly supportive and motivating mentor.
This is an amazing club for children and adults to be in. My son has been going for a while now and the structure and coaching are next level. The coaches teach respect and lord knows we need that in our children. They guide them. Give them credit where it’s due and let them know when it’s incorrect.
Coach K is an absolute gem. I've grown so much over the last few classes I've had and can't wait to see where we continue to go from here. I also have chronic hip and back pain, and coach has been able to accommodate that very well. Give it a try! You really will feel stronger physically and mentally.
Outstanding coaching from the best teacher I've ever worked with, and he continues to give me confidence and skills every time I walk in the gym. It only makes me wish I met coach Kelvin and been introduced to Hammer kickboxing years ago! Can't say enough good things about Hammer Muay Thai Kickboxing!
Your first muay thai class at Hammer Muay Thai Kickboxing Academy
Nervous about walking into a muay thai gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics on pads and bags — not fighting. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: shorts or athletic wear and a t-shirt; you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and hand wraps if you have them — many gyms lend gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves, wraps, a mouthguard, and shin guards. Sparring is optional and comes later, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
